Metformin hydrochloride 500 mg
Pharmacological action
The oral hypoglycemic agent from the group of biguanides (dimethylbiguanide). The mechanism of action of Metformin is associated with its ability to suppress gluconeogenesis and the formation of free fatty acids and oxidation of fat. Metformin does not affect the amount of insulin in the blood, but alters the pharmacodynamics by reducing the ratio bound to free insulin and increase the ratio of insulin to proinsulin. An important link in the mechanism of action of Metformin is the stimulation of glucose uptake by muscle cells.
Metformin increases blood circulation in the liver and accelerates the process of conversion of glucose into glycogen. Lowers triglycerides, LDL, VLDL. Metformin improves fibrinolytic properties of blood due to the suppression of plasminogen activator inhibitor tissue-type
