Dosage form

the nitroxoline 50 mg 

Excipients: calcium hydrogen phosphate, lactose monohydrate, corn starch, silica colloidal anhydrous, povidone K25, talc purified, crospovidon, magnesium stearate.

Shell composition: acacia gum, carmellose sodium, povidone K25, sucrose, silica colloidal anhydrous, talc-purified, starch maize, calcium carbonate, titanium dioxide, colouring agent sunset yellow E110, quinoline yellow E104 dye.

Pharmacological action

Antimicrobial preparation, derivative of 8-hydroxyquinoline. 

It has a wide spectrum of action. Selectively inhibits the synthesis of bacterial DNA that forms complexes with metal-containing enzymes of microbial cells.

Active against gram-positive bacteria: Staphylococcus spp. (including Staphylococcus aureus), Streptococcus spp. (including beta-hemolytic streptococci, Streptococcus pneumoniae, Enterococcus faecalis), Corynebacterium spp., Bacillus subtilis; gram-negative bacteria: Escherichia coli, Proteus spp., Klebsiella spp., Salmonella spp., Shigella spp. Enterobacter spp. Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria gonorrhoeae; other microorganisms: Ureaplasma urealyticum, Mycoplasma hominis, Mycobacterium tuberculosis, Trichomonas vaginalis.

Effective against certain species of fungi (Candida, dermatophytes, fungi, some pathogens of deep mycoses).



Treatment of acute, chronic and recurrent infections of the urinary tract caused by sensitive to nitroxoline microorganisms:

— pyelonephritis;

— cystitis;

— urethritis;

— epididymitis;

infected adenoma or carcinoma of the prostate.

Prevention of infectious complications in the postoperative period in surgical interventions on the kidneys and urinary tract, as well as for diagnostic and therapeutic manipulations (catheterization, cystoscopy).

Prevention of recurrent urinary tract infections.


— cataract;

— renal failure, severe (CC less than 20 ml/min);

— severe hepatic failure;

— children up to age 3 years;

— pregnancy;

— lactation (breastfeeding);

— hypersensitivity to nitroxoline or other components of the drug;

— hypersensitivity to hinolonam.
